There are a lot of ways to have your coffee: black, cappuccino, latte, etc. But did you know that there is another way to enjoy your coffee? How about a Ube latte?

We always have that “something” we feel we want to do for ourselves, or our families. We want to assert that passion and make our dreams come to life. In this case, Linda Sartorius wants to make a product line that is unique in taste and very attractive to the market. As a mom, she recognized the fact that there are things you can learn from your own child/ren. Say, color? How about colorful lattes? It felt like a light bulb that gave her the idea to start a business with colors in mind.

By September 2022, she participated in a food startup certificate program in Freising, a university town in Bavaria region in Germany, with the goal of exploring developing Ube (purple yam) powder as a beverage or ice cream flavoring. During her research, she realized that Ube may be widely known in many key cities worldwide, but still, there are places where it is unknown. It has been trending in US and Australia, and in the past years, Ube is being celebrated in Germany through UbeFiesta. However, the rise of purple yam as a food trend still does not make it a staple delicacy globally. Having it on hand is still limited. While developing the product, she found out that the powder’s solubility and marketability pose a challenge. With her creativity and practical thinking, she decided to shift her focus to creating syrup instead.

Like many Filipinos, Linda a pure German lady, is a huge fan of Ube. From how it tastes, its vibrant color, and the uniqueness of its nutty-vanilla flavor. She made it a goal to have it in her product line. Since ube is usually being imported, its availability is scarce and the process of bringing them here is complicated. Due to its components, not all imported ube products and flavorings are approved by the European Food Authority. Having this crucial information, she made it a personal quest to find an existing purple yam flavoring that already complies with EU food standards and is already made in nearby countries.

Ubeness ( and About Flavors) offers various advantages beyond its on-point taste and ideal properties. It is sourced within the EU, which aligns with food regulations and ecological considerations, reducing carbon emissions due to shorter transport routes.”

Eventually, she stumbled upon Ubeness. In her amazement, she then decided to make contact to collaborate in producing her dream product. According to her,

“Ubeness offers various advantages beyond its on-point taste and ideal properties. It is sourced within the EU, which aligns with food regulations and ecological considerations, reducing carbon emissions due to shorter transport routes.” And so, the dream continues.

To finally establish her products, she registered a UG (Unternehmergesellschaft), a form of German entrepreneurial entity, at the beginning of 2023. Having this allows her to purchase, manufacture, and market her products commercially. Swiftly, her flavored lattes are coming to completion, and she is also hoping it will be in every kitchen soon.

It is time to level up how we enjoyed our lattes, and her Color Up Your Taste (her brand name) syrups are leading us there. Her flavors are exceptional in taste and have delightful colors too. Aside from Ube, she also came up with Pink Chocolate and Blue Tonka! Their names are more than interesting enough to try them. Her products are highly concentrated and would only need a small quantity to enjoy their delicious flavor. She is now indeed a mompreneur– cost-efficient and a creative visionary. To date, her sample products are now available to request via www.colorupyourtaste.de or via her Instagram and Facebook accounts.

And what do people say about Ube in lattes?

“The color strength and the very pleasant taste are excellent! Not many people know Ube, but everyone who tries it loves it – even if very few Germans can describe what it tastes like – it just tastes good!”
